RRB NTPC CBT EXAM| PROCESS OF SELECTION
RRB NTPC selection process consists of four stages. The selection process of Station Master and Traffic Assistant includes two-stage Computer Based Tests tracked by Computer Based Aptitude Test. Candidates for the post of Junior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Time Keeper, Accounts Clerk cum Typist, Senior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Account Assistant cum Typist and Senior Time Keeper are selected on basis of two-stage Computer-Based Tests followed by Typing Skill Test. Selection of candidates for Trains Clerk, Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Goods Guard, Senior Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Commercial Apprentice is done based on two-stage CBT followed by document verification and medical examination.

The full recruitment process of RRB NTPC Exam is explained below.
Filling the application form
To appear in RRB NTPS Exam, candidates require to first fill the application form online. The application fees for general/OBC categories are Rs 500 while it is Rs 250 for SC/ST/PWD/Women/Ex-Servicemen/ Transgender/ Minorities/Economically Backward class.
First Stage CBT
The first stage CBT is similar for all posts. The test duration is 90 minutes and consists of three sections: General Awareness, Mathematics and General Intelligence and Reasoning. The first Stage CBT is for screening. The marks of the first stage shall be normalised to select candidates for the second stage CBT.
Second Stage CBT
Shortlisting for the second stage CBT is done 20 times the number of vacancies on basis of the merit of first stage. The second stage CBT consists of three sections: General Questions Awareness, Mathematics and General Intelligence and Reasoning. The duration of the test is 90 minutes. Candidates qualifying the second stage CBT are held for skill test depending on the posts they have applied for.
Skill Test
Computer-Based Aptitude Test is held for Station Master and Traffic Assistant while Typing Skill Test is held for Junior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Time Keeper, Accounts Clerk cum Typist, Senior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Account Assistant cum Typist and Senior Time Keeper). The shortlisting for Skill Tests like Computer based Aptitude Test and Typing Skill Test is done eight times the number of vacancies on basis of merit of second stage CBT.
Document Verification
Candidates qualifying for the second stage CBT and on basis of the performance in Computer Based Aptitude Test and Typing Skill Test (as applicable) candidates equal to the number of vacancies are called for Document Verification according to their merit. Appointment of selected candidates is based on their passing needed Medical Fitness Test.
Medical examination
Appointment of chosen candidates is on basis of their passing the needed medical examination. Candidates shall be tested based on their physical fitness needed for the post. Candidates must note that RRBs only mention the names of empanelled candidates and appointment is provided by the respective RRBs.

Resolution of Ties
If two or more candidates secure same marks, merit position is assessed by age criteria. It means, older person shall be placed at higher merit and in case age being similar, then alphabetical order (A to Z) of the name will be taken into account to break the tie.
